Sam & Devorah

Creating a digital home for safety, memory, and belonging

The Sam & Devorah Foundation for Trans Youth creates safe spaces for trans and nonbinary teens—online and in person. The organization is both an active community builder and a living memorial. Every part of its identity carries emotional weight, responsibility, and intention.

Stoneroller was invited to help bring that presence online—to build a website, refine the foundation’s visual identity, and create tools that the team could carry forward on their own terms.

Designing a Website That Holds What Matters

Previous web development efforts had stalled, and the foundation needed a trusted partner to help shape its digital voice. We collaborated closely with the team to understand what this site needed to hold: grief, community, privacy, hope, and safety.

We built a clean, responsive Squarespace website that communicates clearly and invites engagement—without overexposure. Every detail was chosen with care. Every word and image reflects the foundation’s dual purpose: honoring Sam and Devorah’s memory and supporting the thriving of trans youth.

Completing and Clarifying the Brand

When we joined the project, the foundation’s logo was still unresolved—partially developed by a previous designer, but not ready for use. We took it across the finish line, refining the mark, developing a full logo family, and creating a style guide with clear direction for use.

We also trained the team to manage and apply the brand in digital and print contexts—ensuring they could continue the work with confidence and consistency.

This was more than a design project. It was an act of care. And we’re grateful to have been part of it.
