FAQ

For All Clients

Why wouldn’t I just hire a full-time designer, freelancer, or agency?Hiring full-time is expensive. Agencies can be slow. Freelancers disappear.
Stoneroller is the “just-right” option: flexible, fast, and values-aligned. We work like part of your team—without the overhead.

What kinds of organizations do you work with?We serve doers of good: nonprofits, educators, faith communities, artists, and purpose-driven businesses. With 25+ years in these spaces, we understand your constraints—and what’s at stake.

What kind of design do you create? We specialize in branding, strategy, print, and websites. If it needs to be clear, compelling, and mission-aligned, we’ve probably done it.

How long will each project take? For subscription clients, most tasks are turned around in 3 business days or less.
For project-based work, timelines are defined up front—no surprises, just good communication.

What if I don’t like the design? We revise until it feels right. This is a collaboration, not a handoff.

Do you take meetings or use Slack?Generally, no. We work asynchronously to protect your time and our creative flow. Most communication happens in Trello or email.
If you're a project-based client and need a kickoff call, we can schedule one.

Do you offer refunds? No. For project-based clients, deliverables and timelines are agreed on before payment.

For subscription clients, we recommend starting with a monthly plan if you’re unsure. We’re also happy to talk first and make sure it’s a good fit.

For Subscription Clients

What if I only have one design request? No problem. Submit the request, pause your subscription, and come back when you need us again. You only pay for active time.

How do I request designs? You’ll get access to a Trello Client Portal where you can add requests, notes, inspiration, and files. We work through your queue one task at a time.

Is there a limit to how many requests I can make?No limit. Add as many as you want. We’ll tackle them one by one—and you can reshuffle priorities any time.

How does the pause feature work? You’re only billed for active days. Used 21 days this month? You’ll have 10 left in the bank. Just let us know when to resume.
