Christ Church in Short Hills
Designing for legacy, belonging, and the work of peace
Stoneroller has been honored to support this work through years of close collaboration—creating tools, designs, and systems that help the church communicate clearly and gather with intention.
For its 140th anniversary, Christ Church in Short Hills needed more than a book—it needed a piece of work that could hold memory, theology, architecture, and community identity in one cohesive experience. They wanted to pivot out of the COVID era with a roar, uniting the congregation into a ten-year vision leading to the 150th anniversary.
Stoneroller Cooperative led the project from concept through completion, shaping both the narrative and the visual system. We developed the overarching theme, designed the full publication, and collaborated on editing and writing to ensure clarity, tone, and historical integrity throughout.
The result is a fully realized award-winning commemorative volume that moves fluidly between archival history, architectural storytelling, and contemporary parish life. Rich photography, disciplined typography, and a clear structural hierarchy guide the reader through complex content while maintaining a sense of reverence and accessibility.

Supporting a Church That Moves with Grace and Purpose
From Sunday bulletins to major campaigns, Christ Church needed design that could stretch across the wide arc of church life. We’ve worked together on event materials, seasonal messaging, campus signage, and a growing library of reusable assets the staff can manage with ease.Among these is an illustrated campus map that has become a staple of church communications—helping new visitors find their way to worship, formation, and welcome.
Marking a Milestone with Meaning and Joy
Key elements included:
- A cohesive brand and color palette
- Event invitations and print collateral
- Signage and donor recognition displays
- An illustrated anniversary handbook reflecting the church’s story and mission
The headers held a secret narrative, leading through the weeks of Lent to Easter.
“Stoneroller Cooperative did an outstanding job crafting the branding and materials for Christ Church in Short Hills' 140th Anniversary. Their designs beautifully captured our history and mission, creating a cohesive visual identity across invitations, programs, signage, and our commemorative guide. Their work also enhanced our Anniversary Gala, ensuring a memorable celebration. Libby’s creativity, attention to detail, and dedication made a lasting impact, and I would highly recommend!”
